The latest move by the immensely popular game “Genshin Impact” saw the collaboration with a renowned animation production company, ufotable, to launch an animated project. On September 16, the project team revealed the concept video for the upcoming 3.1 version in a special episode of the preview show.
Since its launch in 2020, “Genshin Impact” has swept across numerous countries and regions, becoming a game with milestone significance. In 2020, the game won the Apple and Google platform’s annual game award, and in 2021, it was awarded the annual mobile game award at The Game Awards, making it the first original IP game developed by a Chinese team.
Apart from the game, the team has released several animated short films, such as “Winter Foolery” and “Snow Dispersed and Encounter a Plum Tree.” These have garnered high viewership. Players are eager for longer animated works. This time, the “Genshin Impact” animated project is planned as a long-form work and has partnered with ufotable, known for its focus on producing high-quality content. ufotable has previously created acclaimed works such as “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” “Fate/Zero,” and “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Train.” Their 2020 animated film “Demon Slayer: Infinity Train” ranked first in the Japanese box office that year and grossed over $500 million worldwide.
“Beyond the game, ‘Genshin Impact’ has been continuously exploring new content boundaries to allow players to experience the charm of the fantasy world through various forms,” a relevant team member stated. “We will maintain our commitment to high-quality game content and are excitedly working on the project. The positive response and support from the players far exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to sharing the animated project with everyone as soon as possible and hope that everyone will enjoy it.”
“We are excited and look forward to embarking on the animation production journey,” said a relevant team member from ufotable. “We are currently working on the project to depict the enchanting open world of ‘Genshin Impact,’ and we are eager to share this journey with you.”
