Finally here!
miHoYo has officially announced that recruitment testing for the HarmonyOS version of Genshin Impact will begin at 12:00 today, and it will be exclusive to HarmonyOS users. This recruitment aims primarily to ensure the game’s future compatibility with HarmonyOS. Ever since the HarmonyOS ecosystem began last year, many gamers have been eagerly awaiting a dedicated HarmonyOS version of Genshin Impact. Considering that Tencent’s popular games such as Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile have already been adapted, Genshin Impact joining the lineup would be a true win-win, greatly enhancing the overall user experience.
It’s worth noting, however, that the test version currently available is still in an early stage of development. miHoYo has emphasized that adjustments will be made based on player feedback, with improvements rolling out step by step. All participants must sign a confidentiality agreement—this helps prevent disruptions on the live servers and avoids misunderstandings that might arise from leaked test content.
Which devices can participate?
According to official posts on the miHoYo community, currently supported straight-screen models include the Huawei Pura 80 series, nova 14 series, and Huawei Mate 70 series, while foldable devices include the Huawei Mate X6. The recruitment period runs from 12:00 PM on June 27 to 2:00 PM on July 4. Interested players can fill out a questionnaire to apply for eligibility.
As a demanding 3D mobile game, Genshin Impact is often used as a benchmark for flagship smartphone performance. Launching a dedicated HarmonyOS version isn’t just about improved performance, ecosystem integration, or user benefits—it’s also a symbol of technological innovation.
First, the performance optimizations are deep. Native HarmonyOS apps can reduce system overhead, improve frame rate stability, and, especially on high-end devices, potentially support high refresh rates up to 120 FPS. Battery life can also benefit, thanks to CPU and GPU-specific optimizations that reduce heat.
Second, ecosystem compatibility is greatly improved. During Huawei’s May launch event, CEO Wang mentioned that the HarmonyOS 5 series had already delivered dozens of updates and added over 100 new system-level features, with new apps appearing daily. If Genshin Impact is successfully adapted, HarmonyOS’s multi-device collaboration would allow seamless progress switching between phones, tablets, and even computers. Casting gamepl
Finally, there’s clear strategic importance for the HarmonyOS ecosystem. Adapting a major title like Genshin Impact validates HarmonyOS’s ability to support large-scale 3D games, likely encouraging other developers to follow suit and accelerating the move away from Android dependence. Huawei has publicly committed to completing native adaptation for the top 500 apps by 2027. If Genshin Impact is among them, it would directly meet the core needs of mobile gamers.
As for me—if Genshin Impact is getting adapted, when will we see games like Golden Shovel, League of Legends, or QQ Speed? My colleague with a Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is already eagerly waiting for more big-name titles to join the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
In summary, although performance is still in the tuning phase, HarmonyOS’s gaming ecosystem will keep growing and maturing. In the future, the dream of fully interconnected gaming experiences across devices might no longer be just wishful thinking. If the optimization is successful, HarmonyOS truly has the potential to become the third major mobile gaming platform after iOS and Android.
